SAND DISPLACEMENT BY FALLING SPHERE

PRINCIPLE
By mapping of terrain models, displacement processes in soil (here: sand) can be simulated via CEL (Coupled Euler-Lagrange).
APPLICATION RANGES
- Sliding tests based on the helix angle
- Ingression processes in soil, e.g. concerning bridges, skyscrapers etc. with displacement poles in soils with poor bearing capacity
Video
A sphere weighing 8 kilograms strikes sandy soil
with a speed of 15 m/s vertically and 10 m/s horizontally.
