The connection between the hydraulic clutch actuation system and the follow-up tank is made via a so-called follow-up pipe. The coupling piece connects the so-called afterflow pipe head with the connecting piece by means of a sealing element made of EPDM.

For the connection, on the one hand the assembly force during assembly is important, and on the other hand the so-called trigger pressure from which the connection is released.

Task

The task is to develop a 2D simulation model from which the mounting force and trigger pressure can be determined.

Results

The determined values could be compared with the experimental results of FTE to verify the calculation model. The results corresponded very well with the values determined in experiments (deviation less than 5%). With the help of the developed calculation method for the installation and the take-off pressure of a follower pipe, several optimisation variants could be recalculated and evaluated with regard to the specified requirements.
