Earthquake Simulation

In case of an earthquake, a safe shut down of a nuclear power plant must be guaranteed. Therefore, the proper functioning of the pumps of the primary circuit even during an earthquake must be proved. Also stability must be guaranteed in order to avoid additional hazard by tip-over of machines.

 Earthquake Simulation

Merkle & Partner provides computational stability proofs on basis of finite-element models according to all standard earthquake codes (UBC 97, EC 8, IBC 2006, KTA 2201, ISO 3010 et al. UBC, Eurocode et al.) for each kind of plants, steel construction and machines.

This includes

  •  Determination of acceleration loads
  •  Spectral analyses
  •  Shock loads
  •  Stress analysis
  •  Analysis of both loads
  •  Proofs of stability
