With switched off light, the cover lens of a headlamp usually is the coldest component, so that condensation (thawing) easily occurs on the inside of the glass. By positioning air vents systematically in the headlamp housing, a flow field is generated which is to efficiently support removal of humidity from the headlamp.
Our example is based on the assumption of a water film on the glass, which can be removed only by the ventilation of the headlamp with dry air. Thus, in a virtual model, different ventilation alternatives of a headlamp can be analyzed and optimized regarding their effectiveness.
