Gopher, motocross, digger and a nasty shoulder fracture

Company event and team building at Merkle & Partner

dirt-arena innsbruck

From 16-17 September 2021, Merkle & Partner forgot about you and your tasks for a little while and literally threw ourselves into an adventure, as you can no doubt see from the enclosed X-ray.

But first things first:

Finding suitable corporate events with something for everyone is not quite trivial. Everyone is still on board for the meal, but after that it gets a bit more difficult.

So after a democratic vote, we found ourselves at the Dirt Arena near Innsbruck to spend a day in the dirt. From digger to gopher to motocross, there was something for everyone. Even though all but one had no motocross experience beforehand, the field was full.

Unfortunately, the one with the relevant experience was unlucky and successfully finished the first round with a broken shoulder. Due to data protection, I don't want to mention any names here, unless you recognise Chadi from the X-rays.

Merkle & Partner usually understand fracture mechanics differently, but it is interesting to see how doctors can deal with it and nail a complicated quadruple fracture back together.

Since we can now also recalculate body models, it will certainly be possible in the not too distant future to also depict crash examinations on the cross-country course.

Chadi is on the road to recovery and he is certainly still getting used to the whimpering at the airport due to an increased metal content in his body.

The rest of the team survived the day in the dirt arena unscathed, even though Christian's dirt was only shovelled senselessly from right to left and back when riding the digger. The or the gopher also inspired even those who could not find suitable clothing for the cross-country course due to their shoe size 47?!!!

At lunch, no wishes were left unfulfilled and since fresh air makes you hungry, the barbecue plate was filled up three times with various salads. Thanks to Robert's team, who stood behind the hot grill in pure sunshine and provided us with delicious steaks, sausages and grilled vegetables.

We then released Chadi from the care of the pretty nurses at the university hospital in Innsbruck, who took care of him and made him fit for transport. I don't know what drugs they gave him there, but he had text for the entire 3 hour drive, while Maik's eyes fell shut.

We can highly recommend the event, it doesn't have to end in an accident. And if something happens despite all precautions, you definitely have more to tell.

You can find all the details here, in case we've made you a little curious.
