Simulation of the assembly and disassembly of a snap connection

Task

The ball of a snap connection is to be pressed into a holder for assembly. The aim is to achieve the lowest possible force during assembly, but a large force during disassembly. For this purpose, a simulation is carried out taking into account the damage to the material during assembly. The disassembly is then simulated.

Task


The ball of a snap connection is to be pressed into a holder for assembly. The aim is to achieve the lowest possible force during assembly, but a large force during disassembly. For this purpose, a simulation is carried out taking into account the damage to the material during assembly. Subsequently, the disassembly is simulated.

Results


Within the scope of the assembly simulation, the behavior of different materials during the assembly or disassembly process of the snap connection was investigated. Among other things, the maximum assembly forces and the strength of the different materials were determined.

 
Benefits for our customer


In a short time and with little effort, this simulation provides information on which material is basically suitable for this connection. This means that feasibility can be investigated at an early stage of development. Furthermore, the costs can be estimated.
