Technically, not that much has changed, the handling has become easier, larger models, more complex physics, faster results.

The simulation software hardly crashes anymore, the license costs are rising and the prices for simulations in the automotive sector continue to fall.

What has changed, however, is the presentation, i.e. the packaging.

And here you can see actual quantum leaps. The focus in the simulation is even more on the result, i.e. the representations are closer to reality. This is also due to the fact that physics is mapped in ever greater detail.

But the basic methodology in the simulation calculation has remained the same. And if you know the basics from the old years, you will have no problem with the new simulation software, physical calculations and corresponding representations.

Despite all the nice presentations, it still depends on the expertise to evaluate software evaluations sensibly, to know which physical factors lead to the corresponding consequences and to be brave enough to think out of the box even if the situation is unclear.

Our division manager Maik has brought back an old simulation project from a time when he could barely write FEM as a postdoc and just repackaged it.

What is it? Some electronics box with deformations, I think.... But it doesn't matter.

The results from Abaqus uralt could be restored safely from a dusty tape from the pioneering days of data backup and read into Ensight software.

The result? See for yourself.

And the simulation frog became at least a half-prince.

On the subject of data protection: I don't think anyone cares. I even doubt that our customer even recognizes the project. Probably he is retired...
