häwa X-frame: stability proven

The computational simulation of the stability and safety of products is already considered a verifiable proof of stability in many areas. In the case of häwa, a renowned manufacturer of control cabinets, housings and machine frames, Merkle & Partner was able to successfully prove the strength of the patented X-frame machine frame even for increasing requirements.

X-frame is a modular machine frame that is increasingly used in special machine construction. Mostly X-frame is used for robots or linear guides. The patented system integrates the cable guides in the struts of the frame, which are quickly accessible via flaps. With additional integrated control cabinets, X-frame from häwa is unique on the market.

Calculations performed by simulation experts from Merkle & Partner established the stability of the frames under different test conditions. Since the advantage of the simulations is also to show weak points and to flexibly change test conditions, häwa could also take advantage of direct optimizations or impulses for further developments from the digital test series.

X-frame machine frames from häwa are primarily used in the fields of robotics, lasers, medical technology or cleanrooms. Strong loads are exerted by movements and corresponding accelerations of the machines integrated in the frames.

In this process, the deformations of the frame must not exceed the defined tolerance values in order not to disrupt precise processes. Tilting or slipping of the frame during load-bearing machine movements were also tested.

"In the computational verification, all the objectives defined and aimed for by häwa could be proven. Stability and above-average load capacity will continue to meet the high requirements," says Stefan Merkle, Managing Director of Merkle & Partner GbR.

By providing proof via simulation calculations, häwa was not only able to achieve enormous advantages in terms of time. The digital proof also allows to see much more clearly how the product reacts at which points with which loads. Thus, the customer not only receives the desired proof of strength, but always also valuable additional data for further product developments or modifications.
